Samuel Cooper papers, 1775-1895.

Papers pertaining to Rev. Samuel Cooper, minister of the Brattle Street Church in Boston, Mass., and the Cooper family, compiled by author Frederick Tuckerman. Collection includes a typescript of a diary (annotated by Frederick Tuckerman) kept by Cooper from 19 April 1775 - 17 May 1776 describing his experiences during the Siege of Boston; typescripts of letters to and from Cooper and letters authored by Benjamin Franklin and John Adams during the Revolutionary War that contain references to Cooper; and miscellaneous materials related to Cooper's ministry, including an undated list of individuals in the parish who contributed funds towards Cooper's settlement costs, and various sermons and elegies delivered at Cooper's funeral. Also included are newspaper clippings and letters sent to Frederick Tuckerman from 1886 - 1895 containing Cooper family genealogical information.
